  • Snack: a small handful of nuts or a snack bar if needed.
  • Dinner: soup with plenty of vegetables, a protein source, and 2 pieces of bread.
  • Evening snack: yogurt, muesli, and fruit OR 2 pieces of bread, lean chicken or turkey cutlet, vegetable oil-based fat and cucumber, salad, and tomato.

(e) Points to be noted:

People on an accelerated diet should take note:

  • A high intake of water improves urinary excretion of urea.
  • Legumes and mushrooms contain purines and should therefore be considered in moderation
  • One meal should not contain too many purines: for example, meat should be eaten with other vegetables instead of pulses
  • For meat or fish, a portion size of about 100-120 g per meal is sufficient
  • Prefer a vegetarian diet
  • Vitamin C reduces urate production
  • Avoid heavy alcohol consumption, especially beer
